Today marks a huge leap in my life. I finally cut the landline cord. I have been using both a cell and a landline for some time now... Since I moved to Atlanta, I have had a landline to serve numerous purposes. Phone calls, DSL, and lastly my alarm system.
You know how they have conspiracies on certain topics? I thought there was something crazy about how alarm companies and phone companies are seemingly in bed together. Well I finally got tired of paying $45/month for a landline that served only one purpose... to call in case of an emergency. I finally called my security company and got the news on a product that served my needs.
Uplink basically created a box that acts as a cell phone, SMSing emergency messages to the main office, without the use of a hardline. Genius. In the past, it seemed to be not cost effective. Come to find out that it's only $6/month more than what I was already paying for the monitoring service. When I got news of that, one thing went through my mind... "GOODBYE AT&T!!!"

I do... but this is landline vs. dedicated cell line for the alarm system.
